MAKEUP DO’S AND DON’TS

Hey guys!

Today I’m writing this quick blog post for you all, discussing some makeup mistakes that we all make. Makeup is not at all tough, it’s supposed to be fun and challenge your creativity.
This post is especially for those who feel a little bit haunted with all the everchanging techniques and makeup trends. Do not fear, I got you! I have for you some tips to make sure your makeup looks fantastic at all times.

1. NEVER APPLY MAKEUP IN DIM LIGHT

Good lighting is imperative for applying makeup. You could easily mess up your foundation or go way overboard with your blush application. So avoid bad lighting at all costs.

2. MATCH YOUR FOUNDATION PROPERLY

I am covering two points here. While buying your foundation try to go out in the sunlight and match it, don’t rely on the store light and never purchase foundation online unless you are completely sure of your shade.
Also, match your foundation to your neck, as well as your ears so that they don’t look a different shade.

3. BLUSH OVERLOAD

A continuing problem I notice is excess of blush on the cheeks. Unless its a dance competition, please don’t go overboard with blush. While doing makeup it does seem like its not that visible, but trust me a little bit of blush goes a long way!

4. THE INFAMOUS CONTOUR LINE

Has anyone noticed the dark streak of bronzer..especially famous in instagram tutorials? In real life you want your contour to only define your face. The unblended streak looks unnatural and is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to makeup.
Tip-  if you are a beginner use a powder contour  because that blends easily and does not require much work as compared to a cream one.

5. GLOWY OR SHINY?

The favourite product for any makeup lover, including me, is highlighter. But sometimes we tend to use it incorrectly and end up looking shiny rather than glowy. The highlighter should only be applied on the high-points of your face and not all over. Also try to use a less shimmery highlighter for daytime, preferably a cream based liquid glow.

6. CHANGE UP YOUR METHOD

I prefer doing eyes before than my face makeup, because if I mess up my eyeliner or mascara, I can easily wipe it off without worrying about removing everything. Also, this works for powdery eyeshadows that lead to fall out.

7. TOO MUCH POUT?

Overlining is a huge trend and I get why. It makes your lips looks a bit more full which is completely fine, until you start overdoing it. Also it’s always better to overline with a lipliner than the lipstick because that gives more definition and looks more natural.

8. TRANSLUCENT OR BANANA POWDER?

This is especially for people with a dusky skin tone. I have a dusky complexion and so I like to use a banana powder which is a tinted yellow undertone loose powder. Translucent powders tend to show up especially in flash photography and that ruins your entire picture.

9. WORTH IT?

There are millions of makeup brands out there, some are luxury and some are drugstore. Before buying, try to read reviews of products and analyse their worth to save your penny. Not everything works for everyone so beware of that as well. I have reviewed makeup products so check out the links at the end of the post to read those.

10. DON’T BE AFRAID TO EXPERIMENT

Don’t be scared to try your hand at a cut-crease eyeshadow look or wear a bold lip. Makeup is for enhancing your beauty and having fun so don’t think twice about jumping on new trends.

That’s all the do’s and don’ts I wanted to share with you guys. So get excited to pick up that beauty blender and work the magic!
see ya!
